Angelina, pls express yourself better!
I just watched “Beyond Borders”. I made myself watch it bc it touches upon real important issues concerning aid work in afflicted areas. I thought I might gain something from watching it. Nothing new was revealed to me, though the plot is good, except for the end which forgets abt the important stuff and turns its attention to the secondary plot. Oh, and there was some scary CGI in the film, really really scary looking. But Clive Owen was good, really good, like always. Not to mention extraordinarily good looking, except at the end where he is less so, sans stubble.
But that Angelina Jolie – I really don’t know where to start! That is the one thing I got from the film: my need to ask, “What is the deal with her?” The reason I even waste my time writing this is that I found nothing but horrible reviews abt her performance and so feel justified repeating: What is the deal with that Angelina Jolie? Here, a little bit abt the film.
She is world famous and I have read “news” abt her on and off for the last few years, her life before and with Brad Pitt, with all them lovely kids, and the “issues” between her and Jennifer Aniston. Blood vials and fun tattoos, gorgeous hair. I don’t pretend for one second not to know abt all this stuff, all this non-important garbage we are fed through the media, and which, I am sure, the people involved would be quite happy to be without.
I don’t get it how she made it into acting when her complete lack of acting talent is made painfully clear in a film which is essentially about a person just like her, same interests and passions. I don’t recall watching any other of her films than this one and “Tomb Raider”, and from what I recall, in the latter one she only had to be really good at kicking stuff and doing stunts, which her stunt person did for her, for that film to take off.
How does a person who can’t act maintain an acting career? It’s rather puzzling to me.

This facial expression is The One preferred by Angelina Jolie throughout the film.
What I like about Ms Jolie:
Charitable spirit: evident by her work for the UNHRC and adopting children. She seems real nice that way. There’s probably other stuff I don’t know about.
What irks me about Ms Jolie:
Acting: Flat. Why does she get roles? Or rather, why is she held in any regard whatsoever as an actress? The crazed Khmer Rouge leader in his 5 min scene evoked more feeling in me, whilst speaking in Khmer (or some other a language I don’t know), than Angelina ever managed in all her scenes. It’s embarrassing to watch. Geez. She’s nice, I don’t wanna be embarrassed watching her “act”.
I can imagine the director telling her: “Gimme sad, gimme surprised, now jolly, feel the love, be overwhelmed while addressing multitude, show your character feeling at ease in intimate setting …“, only to get the below and right look, each and every time.
Lips: She honestly looks beestung, punched and heavily burdened with them lips. They do help distract from her near utter lack of facial expression, so that’s good. I am not a guy but I really think I am able to appreciate feminine beauty. According to the info I’ve gleaned from the web Ms Jolie’s lips are the genuine article. She can’t help being born like this. Still looks painful to me, and too distracting to be really beautiful. When Clive kissed her I found myself thinking stuff I never think when random telly people, or anyone else for that matter, kiss, like how spongy her lips must have felt between his, and his teeth, and whether they are bouncy, too, and hard to catch with your lips. Ha. Did it take him by pleasant or unpleasant surprise how far he was able to suck them into his mouth, due to their extraordinary size?
Body: Paper thin body – her arms are scary in this film, as is the manner in which she pulls her knees up under her chin at which point her thigh and body make up the width (depth? something …) of a “normal” person – looks really hypocritical and sad against backdrop of starving Ethiopians.
But this is all nasty. Who am I to think stuff like this about someone I don’t know? Or even someone I do know? It’s her body, her lips. I should mind my own. The looks stuff I regret writing but won’t delete. The acting stuff – I am just innocently and genuinely wondering how she manages to get parts in movies, is all. Call me concerned. I’d like her to keep getting a steady income to take care of herself and her children.

She seems nice. And her pajamas in Lara Croft were beautiful. I think you can make a career out of being beautiful and famous and then it feeds on itself.
I am sure there are downsides… like no one wants to take a picture of me on the way to the gym.
I know from tabloids that there are downsides to being famous, like you mentioned, even if your fame is based on beauty alone, and not something you’ve accomplished.
I feel a little bad for being mean to someone famous I don’t know in an inconsequential blog entry. I guess I could have just written: home comes Ms Jolie gets roles in films when she can’t act? She is an actress, and that amases me, bc she can’t act. That’s all I was thinking, really. The whole thing abt her lips – old and overdone, and I woke up with fears of being potentially racist in my remarks!
All that emotion due to a blog entry written in response to an emotionless appearance of Ms Jolie in my tv screen!
